Benji Announces $6.25 Million in New Funding to Expand Infrastructure for Loyalty Partnerships

Benji, the universal API for loyalty partnerships, today announced a $6.25 million seed funding round led by Preface Ventures and Atinc, with participation from Great North Ventures, M25, and Hyde Park Venture Partners. Benji’s growing network includes JetBlue’s loyalty program as well as those of several other leading brands such as Cook Unity, 1800-Flowers and Chip City, with a total of more than 50 million active members combined. The funding will support expansion of the company’s engineering and go-to-market teams in Chicago and New York as Benji continues building integrations across its loyalty partnership network.

Loyalty is one of the fastest-growing and most vital elements of the consumer economy, but it’s also one of the most operationally complex to execute. As airlines, hotels, retailers, financial services companies, and consumer brands increasingly rely on partnerships to drive acquisition, retention, and engagement, legacy infrastructure underpinning loyalty programs has struggled to keep digital pace. Launching a single loyalty integration can cost enterprise teams 7-8 figures in aggregate and take more than a year of engineering, coordination, and custom development.

Benji simplifies that process. Through a single API, brands can connect loyalty programs across industries to support earning, redemption, transfer, and other partnership experiences without rebuilding integrations from scratch each time. Benji’s platform can reduce integration timelines from months to days, allowing loyalty teams to launch partnerships significantly faster than traditional in-house approaches.

Loyalty has become one of the primary connective mechanisms beneath a shift toward cross-industry ecosystems that will drive between $70 and $100 trillion of global GDP, according to McKinsey. Recent shifts across the loyalty industry have made partnership infrastructure harder to ignore. Brands across travel, retail, hospitality, and fintech are under pressure to offer customers more flexibility in how points are earned and redeemed, while loyalty teams are being asked to launch partnerships faster and more frequently than legacy systems were designed to support. What were once occasional marketing collaborations are increasingly becoming ongoing operational relationships between platforms.

“We kept hearing the same thing from loyalty teams: everybody wants partnerships, but almost nobody has enterprise-grade infrastructure to launch them quickly,” said Nick Anastasiades, co-founder and CEO of Benji. “The industry still runs on a huge amount of custom work behind the scenes. We built Benji to remove that friction so companies can spend less time stitching systems together and more time building programs customers actually want to use.”

Benji is the third company Anastasiades, Jon Elron, and Arik Gaisler have built together. Their previous venture, 2ndKitchen, was acquired by REEF Technology in 2021. The founders see parallels between the operational challenges of integrating food-service partners and the disconnected systems that underpin today’s loyalty economy.

“Loyalty is a massive market, but Fortune 2000 marketing teams have been hamstrung in their ability to co-build customers with trusted brands,” said Farooq Abbasi, General Partner at Preface Ventures. “Benji’s team has solved this product-first, and the pull across the biggest companies in the world, across industry, has been exceptional.”
